This isn’t the post I wanted to write to welcome us back after my little break, but I guess I’ll have to bring those up another time. Though I’m offering points for anyone who knows my title reference!
Today I went to the Doctor for a pill check up. Its been a whole year since I was put on the pill, for the second time and today didn’t go as well as I had hoped.
I haven’t had a rough year, I don’t think. I had a new boss in my job which is stressful enough, but when you don’t really get on with them then its harder. As a result of that, I’ve actually changed jobs and this also is quite stressful, but apart from that I’ve been okay. I don’t want to say great because we all have our ups and downs and in fact when I started this project a few months ago I thought I was in a good place. (Fun Fact – when I started this job, I wasn’t even looking for a new job!)
Anyway – back to my doctors appointment that didn’t go so well. I went for my pill check up. And everything was going okay, she asked how I was feeling, she took my blood pressure and everything was normal.
Then she asked me to get on the scales and I’ve put on weight, which is soul crushing enough, but it turns out that I’ve actually gone up a percentile so the risks for the pill I was on outweigh the benefits.
It feels like I’m back to square one. It was such a kick in the teeth. I’ve been doing it all, I’ve cut out so many things, and introduced so many things, I mean who even likes quinoa with a curry?!
She’s put me on a different pill for three months, hoping that I’ll be able to lose a bit of weight in that time so I can go back to my old pill. And she’s also going to write a referral to the skin clinic about the hair on my chin. But in the mean time it means that I’m on a serious health kick. – I might even sign up to slimming world, who knows!
